Air Temperature Sensor

Intake Air Temperature sensor monitors the temperature of the air entering the engine, which helps the engine’s computer (PCM) maintain the balance of air/fuel mixture for optimal engine performance.

Intake Air Temperature is a significant component for the installation of a MAF-less air intake setup. This sensor monitors the temperature of the air entering the engine, which helps the engine’s computer (PCM) maintain the balance of air/fuel mixture for optimal engine performance. A faulty sensor can decrease the life of the engine and reduce the efficiency of fuel consumption.

Common causes of an Air Charge/Manifold/Intake Temperature Sensor failure:

  • Poor maintenance. Many automotive shops routinely overlook servicing the air temperature sensors
  • The build-up of oil and debris over time, generally relating to the age and wear of the sensor

Symptoms of a failing Air Charge/Manifold/Intake Temperature Sensor may include:

  • Lack of power when accelerating
  • Decrease in fuel efficiency
  • Rough idling or running
  • Difficult engine start
  • Check the Engine Light on
